Across the 17th and 18th of June, industry professionals from around Australia will converge on the State Library of Victoria for the National Writers’ Conference. The two-day Conference is programmed to inform and inspire writers of all genres and styles.
The National Writers’ Conference
The cornerstone event of the Emerging Writers' Festival
Ranging from the emerging to the established, writers and panellists offer exciting and varied perspectives on the industry, sharing the ins and outs of their writing lives, deconstructing and discussing the art, the craft and business of being a writer.
Meet the 2017 Ambassadors
Each year, EWF invites five Ambassadors to participate in the National Writers’ Conference to share their experience, insight and knowledge with the next generation of writers.
In 2017 ambassadors are Melina Marchetta (Looking for Alibrandi, Tell The Truth, Shame The Devil); Michelle Law (Sh*t Asian Mothers Say, Single Asian Female); Anna Krien (Night Games: Sex, Power and Sport, Into the Woods: The Battle for Tasmania’s Forests); Inga Simpson (Where The Trees Were, forthcoming Understory); and Dr. Rebecca-Anne Do Rozario (Monash University professor of fantasy literature).
This year’s ambassadors were selected for telling stories others won’t.
“Our ambassadors are women who change things. They break barriers. We’re thrilled for them to mentor the next generation of writers,” says Emerging Writers’ Festival (EWF) Artistic Director Izzy Roberts-Orr.
We are thrilled at the prospect of spending a weekend in the company of these five brilliant minds.
