The National Writers’ Conference is the place for emerging writers to develop their skills, hear from leaders in the field, and forge connections within the industry.
As the centrepiece event of the Emerging Writers’ Festival, the National Writers’ Conference is all about informing and inspiring writers of all genres and styles. Hear the best industry advice from our distinguished Ambassadors and dive into conversations about how to start a publication, the role of literary criticism, the art of the interview and more.
Following its digital success in 2020 and 2021, the 2022 National Writers’ Conference will return online over one day: ticketholders can watch and participate in real time, and review the sessions on-demand once the conference is over.
Plus, book a Pitch It! Session for a unique opportunity to pitch your manuscript to a publisher or editor. You have just 5 minutes so keep it brief and don’t forget to leave room for questions! These publishers, editors and literary agents are here to support emerging writers, so give it a go.
Featuring Festival Ambassadors: Yassmin Abdel-Magied, Jennifer Down, Jamie Marina Lau and Jeanine Leane.
Early Bird Price: $80 Full / $60 concession. Early bird tickets are strictly limited.
The full National Writers’ Conference program will be released on Tuesday 10 May.
HOW TO ATTEND THIS EVENT
The National Writers’ Conference is a one-day online gathering of emerging writers on Zoom.
You can purchase a National Writers’ Conference ticket to enjoy the full day of industry insights. Or book a Conference PLUS Pitch It! ticket to enjoy the full day conference PLUS the bonus opportunity to pitch your manuscript to a book publisher or editor.
If you book a Conference PLUS Pitch It! ticket, EWF will match you with a publisher or editor to pitch to and allocate you a 5-minute timeslot. Your 5-minute Pitch It! session will take place one-on-one in a Zoom breakout room on the day of the Conference. You’ll be sent your timeslot and some more information closer to the day.
Please keep in mind that these pitching sessions are intended as a professional development opportunity. We encourage you to have a go at pitching your manuscript and to ask questions.
Please note that there are very limited Pitch It! tickets available.
