Festival Event Updates

We want you to be able to experience EWF2021 without worry, which is why we’ve made the decision to move online once again to ensure everyone can access the festival as safely and comfortably as possible in response to the ongoing challenges of COVID-19.

We have been working behind-the-scenes to transfer the EWF2021 experience online and we’re delighted to share with you a roster of over 50 intimate, engaging and illuminating digital performances, panels and projects over the 11 days of the festival.

Here is a full list of all event changes:

Wednesday 16 June:

  • Opening Night: Collective Imaginings (7pm) will now take place online, via a free YouTube livestream. You’ll be able to watch the event right here on the night, or afterward via EWF’s YouTube channel.

Thursday 17 June:

  • Short n Sweet (6.30pm) will now take place online, via Zoom. Tickets are free and can be booked here. Ticket holders will be emailed an access link 30 minutes prior to the event start time.
  • Writers’ Night School: Shaping a Poetry Collection (7.00pm) will now take place online, via Zoom. Ticket holders will be emailed an access link 30 minutes prior to the event start time.
  • Writing the Stars (7pm & 9pm) has unfortunately been cancelled. Ticket holders will receive an automatic refund to the card used for purchase.
  • After Dark has an updated start time of 7.15pm and will now take place online, via a free YouTube livestream. You’ll be able to watch the event right here on the day, or afterward via EWF’s YouTube channel.

Friday 18 June:

  • Bodies of Sound (4pm) has unfortunately been cancelled.
  • Writers’ Night School: Graphic Storytelling (6.30pm) has unfortunately been cancelled. Ticket holders will receive an automatic refund to the card used for purchase.

Saturday 19 June:

  • Sisterhood Zine Launch (5pm) will now take place online, via Zoom. Booking link to come shortly.
  • Dream House (7pm) has unfortunately been cancelled. Ticket holders will receive an automatic refund to the card used for purchase.

Monday 21 June:

  • Writers’ Night School: Writing YA (6.30pm) will now take place online, via Zoom. Tickets can be booked online here. Ticket holders will be emailed an access link 30 minutes prior to the event start time.
  • Next Big Thing (6.30pm) will now be streamed online via YouTube. You can tune in for free via The Wheeler Centre’s website here.

Tuesday 22 June

  • The Early Words with Ella Baxter (8.30am) will now take place online, via Discord. No ticket required! Join EWF’s Discord channel here.
  • Lunchtime Literature: Writing with Relationships (12.30pm) will now take place online, via a free YouTube livestream. You’ll be able to watch the event right here on the day, or afterward via EWF’s YouTube channel.
  • Writers’ Night School: Narrative Audio (6.30pm) has unfortunately been cancelled. Ticket holders will receive an automatic refund to the card used for purchase.
  • Amazing Babes (7.30pm) will now take place online, via Zoom. You can book a ticket online here. Ticket holders will be emailed an access link 30 minutes prior to the event start time.

Wednesday 23 June:

  • Masterclass: Language and Writing (10am) has unfortunately been cancelled. Ticket holders will receive an automatic refund to the card used for purchase.
  • Lunchtime Literature: Writing for Children (12.30pm) will now take place online, via a free YouTube livestream. You’ll be able to watch the event right here on the day, or afterward via EWF’s YouTube channel.
  • A Writers’ Notebook (6pm) will now take place online, via Zoom. Ticket holders will be emailed an access link 30 minutes prior to the event start time. Tickets for this event are currently booked out but you can sign up for ticket notifications here.

  • Iconic Duos (6.30pm) will now take place online via YouTube. You can watch online via The Wheeler Centre’s event page here.

Thursday 24 June:

  • The Early Words with Jessica Yu (8.30am) will now take place online, via Zoom. Tickets are free and can be booked here.
  • Lunchtime Literature: Writing Across Genre (12.30pm) will now take place online, via a free YouTube livestream. You’ll be able to watch the event right here on the day, or afterward via EWF’s YouTube channel.
  • A Body of Writing (6.30pm) will now take place online, via Zoom. Tickets can be booked for free right here. Ticket holders will be emailed an access link 30 minutes prior to the event start time.
  • EWF X Thin Red Lines: Left on Red (7pm) has unfortunately been cancelled. Ticket holders will receive an automatic refund to the card used for purchase.
  • First Stage (7.30pm) has been postponed until Friday 9 July and will now take place at The Lawler, Southbank Theatre. Ticketholders have been notified.
