Four celebrated Australian writers will headline the National Writers’ Conference on June 20 as part of the 2020 Emerging Writers’ Festival, to share their experience, insight and knowledge with the next generation of writers.

We are proud to announce this year’s EWF Ambassadors are: Amy McQuire (journalist, podcast host, former NITV National News political correspondent), JP Pomare (Call Me Evie, In The Clearing), Omar Sakr (These Wild Houses, The Lost Arabs), and Carrie Tiffany (Everyman’s Rules for Scientific Living, Mateship with Birds, Exploded View).

“Our ambassadors are creative and dedicated contemporary masters of their respective crafts. We are truly excited to have them on board for this year’s festival and already so inspired by their adaptation to this constantly changing, challenging landscape within the arts. We are nothing short of certain that their sessions at the National Writers’ Conference will be galvanising and utterly rousing for our community of eager, emerging writers,” says Emerging Writers’ Festival Artistic Director Ruby-Rose Pivet-Marsh.

The National Writers’ Conference is the centrepiece of Emerging Writers’ Festival program. It is an online hub for emerging writers who are hungry to develop their skills, hear from leaders in the field and forge connections within the industry. The one-day online conference covers the craft, ethics and business of writing across 11 sessions.

Emerging Writers’ Festival is committed to empowering emerging writers, especially during the challenges presented by CODID-19. We have a strong track record of presenting online content-centric festivals, and are focusing on adapting under the circumstances to continue creating strong creative communities.

The National Writers’ Conference will be held entirely online on Saturday 20 June. Tickets to the National Writers’ Conference will go on sale on Tuesday 2 June at wordpressmu-141731-2398486.cloudwaysapps.com.

The full festival program will be launched with an online event, Digital Nostalgia at 7pm on Tuesday 2 June, presented in partnership with The Wheeler Centre.

Emerging Writers’ Festival 2020 will run from 16-23 June.
